Turkey's clothing export to USA decreased 20.3 percent in 2006, compare to 2005. There are several reasons for this; geographical distance of the US from Turkey, evaluation of Turkish Liras, the rise of costs while the fall in product prices. The biggest prices fall was realized by Egypt. The success of Egypt in the price wars was due to advantages it gained through Qualified Industrial Zone.

The clothing export to the other European countries such as Bulgaria, TRNC, Macedonia and Romania has increased 113.3 percent .Particularly the increase to Bulgaria and Romania which are preferred by the Western companies for production is considered important. In other words, these two markets have become supply centers for the Western European importers.

Although the export of woven products had shown an enduring escalation throughout the year 2004, it lost momentum in 2005 and comparing to 2005, has recorded a fall of 2.1 percent in 2006. The fall in export to the US, Germany and France has played an important role in this downgrade.

The proportion of denims in the total woven export was 24 percent in 2004 and 28 percent in 2005. In year 2006 denim get 37 percent of total woven confection export. Turkey's denim export decreased 4.3 percent in 2006.
