The National Institute of Fashion Technology organized "TANTU 2007", an exhibition and audio visual presentation by the Graduating batch of Textile Design and Knitwear Design programmes on 30th April 2007 in NIFT Campus at Hauz Khas.

Unlike fashion design programme, textile and knitwear programmes are more into fabric creation, new innovation in fabric development, new knit technology and their variety. Rather fashion design programme is the ultimate utilization of these fabrics in preparing fashion apparels.

Around 40 students of Bachelor Programme in Textile Designing and Knitwear Designing displayed their collection in the most innovative manner during TANTU 2007. On the face, it was difficult to believe that these students are yet to test their skills in the market.

The products, home furnishing items, accessories, garments, T-Shirts, bangles etc were so finished that it looked as if they were kept for sale. One students Jasmine James had presented 3 collections including 10 shirt lines and 2 trouser lines. Saloni Sharma had worked on Ancient Japanese Architecture and Symbology in her bedding collection. Manu Mishra theme incorporated printed scales and abstract in peafowl forms in his collection by using kantha, knotting, interlacing etc.

Where Debajit Chatterjee is known for blending design and style, Richa Jain had become expert in developing ranges in woven, pigment and foil printed bed-linen.

Another students Meera Bagchi had developed textures from nature, patchwork durries, typsy shaggy and had used different types of materials for the collection. Anuska Das explains that her collection are an amalgamation of yardages and made-ups incorporating the different embroideries, prints and textures to achieve the desired look, taking inspirations from nature, candycorn and autumn.
