Semarang International Garment and Textile Accessories Exhibition 2007 (SEMATEX), is organized by Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Government of Central Java, Indonesian Textile Association and Indonesia Exhibition Companies Association, at the Semarang International Exhibition Center.
The event started on May 23 and will continue till tomorrow.
Various kinds of sophisticated textile machinaries including embroidery, sewing machines for garment, spinning, knitting and hosiery, leather, fibre and yarn making machinery, and finishing equipments are being displayed here.
Around 117 participants from 14 countries including China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Switzerland, Taiwan and US have joined the expo.
Organizers anticipate, SEMATEX will generate US$20 million through business deals and transactions.
Sources from the Central Java Industry and Trade Office said that SEMATEX would help to boost and restructure the local textile industry.
Central Java has about 74,943 textile manufacturers operating in 21 areas, with major production centers in Solo, Semarang, Pekalongan, Tegal, Sragen, Jepara and Kudus. More than 70 percent of the enterprises here are still using 15- to 25-year-old equipments.
