Government is seriously mulling over bringing import of textile machinery zero-rating duty, so as to promote the value-added product industry.

Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Mushtaq Ali Cheema, during a recent meet, stated that Administration was considering different policies and strategies to revive textile industry.

Ministry of Textile Industry had suggested various concessions and schemes and had promised to implement a project-oriented approach.

Cheema also revealed that recommendations from several analysts were also being studied.

Reports from most experts propose that Pakistan focus on quality of cotton, production process, supply chain and human resource development so as to enhance the value chain of the textile sector.

Meanwhile, calculated efforts to improve overall value will not only raise average unit price but also boost export volume.
