Donald McGarva, President, DHL Supply Chain Ltd in Japan, commented: “We take great pride that our ability to deliver more efficient logistics services to Fujitsu has been highly rated, leading to the extension of our partnership. Earning the trust of Fujitsu, one of Japan's leading global enterprises, has reinforced our confidence in DHL's ability to provide tailored logistics services that meet the highly demanding logistics needs of Japanese customers.”
Exel, the forerunner of DHL Exel Supply Chain, came under the aegis of Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), DHL's parent company, in December 2005.
In April 2006, the Exel brand name was changed to DHL Exel Supply Chain, enabling its supply chain services to be further developed under the DHL brand as part of an integrated logistics provider. In January 2007, the Japanese subsidiary of Exel changed its name to DHL Supply Chain Ltd.
The company currently meets a diverse range of logistics needs using leading-edge design, IT and project management methodologies. Its services enable reduction of cost, inventory and lead time and improvements in customer service through warehouse management, including Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and service logistics, as well as domestic distribution and transport, reverse logistics, packaging design, disposal, and recycling.
