After the great success of the three world cotton research conferences held in Australia (1994), Greece (1998) and South Africa (2003), the World Cotton Research Conference-4 (WCRC-4) will be held in Lubbock, Texas, USA from September 10-14, 2007.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, CIRAD of France, Cotton Incorporated, USA, National Cotton Council of America and Plains Cotton Growers, USA in addition to ICAC are sponsoring the conference. The International Textile Center of the Texas Tech University, USA is the primary host of the Conference.

The World Cotton Research Conference-4 is a unique opportunity for researchers from all over the world to meet and discuss production research issues. The theme of the WCRC-4 is 'Nature's High-Tech Fiber.' The U.S. Organizing Committee is taking lead in making most decisions.

The International Committee of the WCRC-4, under the chairmanship of the Executive Director of ICAC, is advising the U.S. Organizing Committee in financial and administrative issues. The Technical Information Section of the ICAC is coordinating with the U.S. Organizing Committee and international sponsors.

As of June 8, 2007, 460 researchers from 35 countries have registered for WCRC-4. They include 122 from Asia, 40 from Africa, 20 from Europe, 14 from South America, 19 from Australia and 245 from the USA. On the average 3-4 researchers are still registering every day.

The US Organizing Committee has arranged with the US State Department to facilitate the visa process. Once a researcher pays the registration fee, his/her name is sent to the US State Department for posting on their web page under WCRC-4.

Embassies in various countries have access to this list, which will help researchers to get the US visa. All who need visa to enter the USA are advised to start their visa process without any further delay. Names of all the 460 registrants have been passed on to the Sate Department.
