Leaves and branches of mulberry as well as silkworm faeces, which went waste in the past, will, now be used to produce natural, eco-friendly textile dyestuff!

Researchers at Suzhou University, Materials Engineering College, the Science and Technology Innovation Funds for Graduates, have successfully developed the technique and have applied for its patent.

The University said that after processing and extraction through advanced technology these waste materials can be turned into reliable dyes.

This project has been completed by a team of undergraduates and postgraduates, mainly involved in research of mulberry waste products.

This innovative dyestuff is the first natural product developed in China that can be used to colour real silk fabric.
