Viscose fibre industry maintains rapid growth

Viscose fiber industry continues to maintain a rapid growth. Statistics show that the growth rate of China's viscose staple fiber production accelerated in 2006. Though domestic and overseas demand is increasing, the manufacturing is also expanding. Hence, supply and demand is basically in balance.
Statistics show that the annual operation of the industry improved in 2006, achieving income of 27.054 billion yuan from primary business, and total profits of 1.881 billion yuan.
Chamber of Commerce estimated that the world economic growth rate will slow down in 2007, but it would still remain a growth rate of 4.9 percent. In addition, due to the affection of 'trade friction' and 'trade protectionism', China's textile and garment exports are likely to slow down.
With the promotion of equipments, continuing progress of production technology, improved quality of products and increased demand from overseas, viscose product exports will maintain a sustained growth.
Chamber of Commerce expects that 2007 annual exports will be over 200,000 tons, an increase of about 30 percent. Meanwhile, viscose staple fiber market will continue to maintain in strong demand, product price may rise slightly. Consumption share of Viscose staple fiber in blended products will increase, such as nonwovens.
As the application of viscose filament products has achieved no breakthrough, Chamber of Commerce expects its market demand will not increase significantly. But the rapid increase in exports and other reasons will lead price higher.
Some European manufacturers cut off production, resulting larger demand in high-end products. The application areas of low-grade products are shrinking, so price gap between high-grade products and low-grade products will continue to expand.
