Annual changes: In April 2007 compared with April 2006, new orders for transport equipment grew by 19.3% in the euro area and by 25.0% in the EU27. Manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products rose by 12.7% and 11.6% respectively. Machinery and equipment gained 11.5% in the euro area and 11.0% in the EU27.
Manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal products increased by 10.6% and 12.1% respectively. Textiles and textile products rose by 6.7% in both zones. Electrical and electronic equipment grew by 6.1% in the euro area and by 6.2% in the EU27.
In April 2007, among the Member States for which data are available, total manufacturing working on orders rose in eighteen Member States and fell only in Latvia (-5.7%) and Greece (-0.4%). The highest increases were registered in Poland (+67.3%), Slovakia (+28.7%) and Ireland (+25.6%).
