Clothing & footwear higher prices push inflation rate

The same as in September last year, in September this year the inflation rate stood at 0.4%; this is how much consumer prices grew compared to August 2007. In the first nine months of this year consumer prices were 3.6% higher (in the same period last year they increased by 2.8%).

In September 2007 goods prices were on average 1.2% higher while the prices of services were 1.3% lower. Among goods, the prices of semi-durable goods grew by 5.7% and the prices of non-durable goods by 0.5%, while the prices of durable goods were on average 0.3% lower. After five months of growing service prices, this month the prices of services went down, especially the prices of package holidays (by 13.2%).

Higher prices of clothing and footwear, food and catering services:
In September higher prices were recorded in the following groups: clothing and footwear (by 8.6%), miscellaneous goods and services (by 0.2%) and furnishing, household equipment and maintenance (by 0.1%).

Similarly to previous years, this September the arrival of new autumn-winter lines in stores caused a stronger rise in the prices of clothing and footwear; clothing prices went up by 9.7% and footwear prices by 7.1%.

In the group communication the prices of telephone and internet services increased by 0.8%, in the group education the prices of education not definable by level went up by 1.5% and in the group miscellaneous goods and services the prices of personal services grew the most (by 1%).
