Cotton industrial servicing company The Cotton Australia Board elected long time Director, Bernie George, as its new Chairman on 16 August at the Cotton Australia AGM.
Bernie replaces Geoff Hewitt, who remains on the Cotton Australia Board. Geoff has provided outstanding service as Chairman for the past two years with Bernie as Deputy Chair. Dirranbandi grower and Director, Tom Siddins, is the new Deputy Chair. Current Directors, Joanne Grainger and Mike Carberry, were reelected to the Board unopposed.
The AGM also witnessed two long standing Directors, Christine Campbell and Richard Haire, retire from the Board. Both Christine and Richard have been dedicated advocates for Cotton Australia and industry for many years.
Their departure leaves the Cotton Australia Board with ten Directors instead of the usual 12 as no new Directors were elected. The Board however, feels very comfortable with this scenario, believing the current skills mix and industry coverage is sufficient.
A ten member Board was an item of discussion at the CGA Forum and was supported by CGA Forum attendees. The Cotton Australia Board will review the size of the Board before the next AGM.
Cotton Australia would like to take this opportunity to thank Geoff, Christine and Richard for their long-term service and commitment to industry and welcome Bernie and Tom to their new roles.
