Some 7% of the mills attain or excel the standard HOK of 8.2. On the other hand, in half of the mills the HOK is in excess of 12.2 or more.

Work assignments are on the average 94% of the standard, ranging in individual mills from about 0.4 times to 2.4 times the standard.

The overall winding-on speed is about 530 mpm, compared with the standard of 550 mpm, ranging between mills from an average of 400 mpm to 680 mpm.

The average machine efficiency is only about 80% of the standard, and varies between mills from about one-third of the standard to 1.2 times the standard.

Compared to 2004 survey, the labour productivity in conventional cone winding has significantly dropped by 5.3% in mills common to the two surveys.

Reeling productivity:
On an average, mills surveyed attain a reeling HOK of 21.5 against the standard of 26, thereby indicating that the average reeling productivity of the mills included in the survey is 21% higher than the standard.

Remarkably, close to 85% of the mills attain or excel the standard reeling productivity. Between mills, the reeling HOK varies from 13.8 to 38.9.

Almost three-fourths of the mills adopt the standard or higher than the standard work assignments. However, one-third of the mills achieve or excel their agreement production.

For the mills common to the present and previous SITRA survey in 2004, there has been a significant improvement of 12.7% in reeling productivity.
