In a swift early Sunday morning operation, the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) intercepted five vehicles carrying 250 textile bales and electronic gadgets being illegally brought in to the country through Hodzoga near Ho.
Overall tax goods was expected to the tune of 200 million cedis, according to customs sources.
Customs over the months have taken up the challenges posed by textile smugglers who are undermining the domestic industry.
The local industry has been complaining about rampant inflow of illegal textile from neighbouring countries and the origin of the goods have not been clearly spelled, sources said.
