Shri. A. Sakthivel, President of TEA, while talking to Fibre2fashion, regarding the Union Budget 2008-09, said that, he has welcomed the budget as it's beneficial to farmers at this point of time as well as to basic Income Tax payers.

The President, hopes that, the measures for farmers would help to control rising inflation, hailing reduction of the CENVAT from 16 to 14 percent, and appreciated allocation of more fund for infrastructure and power related projects. Sakthivel, also appreciated the setting up of Textile Parks in the Country especially in Erode.

However, Shri. A. Sakthivel is disappointed for not giving consideration to the requisitions namely, Reduction of Interest rates, Exemption of Service Tax and Fringe Benefit Tax, Refund of State Levies and Taxes along with Refund of Hedging Cost given by exporters, despite Finance Minister was sympathetic towards exporters.

Shri. A. Sakthivel has humbly requested P.Chidambaram, to consider the above issues for the benefit of exporting units.
