'See Australia in a Different Light' in Fiji

The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is holding the second annual Australia Week promotion with participating retail outlets throughout Fiji in April 2008.

“See Australia in a Different Light” builds on the success of the inaugural event in April 2007 and is part of an overarching strategy to increase promotional activity over the next three years. Sales of Australian products at participating outlets in 2007 increased by an average of 15 per cent over the period.

Australia Week helps Fiji importers and retailers gain more traction by promoting their Australian suppliers and products in a coordinated way.

Fiji remains a significant market for Australian exporters, ranking tenth globally ahead of Indonesia, Thailand, Canada, Korea, India, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. More than 3,000 Australian companies sold products or services to Fiji over the last year and a substantial number of these were retail products. Australia is the second largest source of imports to Fiji by dollar value, second only to Singapore because of its refined petroleum exports

Key details:
- 3 week promotion running from April 7-25 2008
- The promotion will be formally launched by Austrade and the Australian High Commission with ongoing support from the Public Affairs Section of the Australian High Commission
- Inbound business missions hosted by Austrade over this time will add to the overall level of activity
- Austrade will coordinate promotional materials and advertising
Australian performers will provide an extra point of interest
- “Lucky consumers of Australian products” will be eligible to enter a prize draw
