According to statistics provided by Spanish Footwear Industries Federation (FICE), in the period from 2002 07, Made–in–Vietnam footwear has created a niche for itself in the region, as it witnessed a threefold growth in terms of volume and a year-on-year rise of 60 percent value wise.

Recently another report released from Ministry of Industry and Trade also showed that, in 2007, Vietnamese footwear enterprises exported near about 30 million pairs of products to Spain, generating revenue of around Euro 220 million.

The figures represented a year–on–year growth of 50 and 10 percent respectively, in terms of volume and value.

With this, Vietnam emerged as the second biggest footwear supplier to Spain in 2007, just behind China. Other key suppliers for Spain include Italy, Portugal, Indonesia, France, Brazil and India.
