Expanding polyester industry needs to tap Intl market

Technological advances in the past 20 years have increased the market demand for various products and polyester is just one among the many industries in China receiving the benefits of these up-gradations.
The polyester industry of China has achieved very high development. So much so, that a blind expansion of its production capacity has brought unspeakable consequences and has led to serious imbalances in the demand and supply chain of the domestic market.
Observing the intense competition and growing risks in production operations, polyester enterprises need to seek development in international market to ease pressure of domestic market.
Gradually therefore, polyester products in China have become export oriented and this can be seen from the fact that the export volume of polyester filament has been on the rise since 2004, while its import volume has showed a declining trend.
In 2004, export of polyester filament reached 133,000 tons which increased to 400,800 tons in 2006. On the other hand import for the same dropped to 271,200 tons during the said period. Again, for Polyester Staple Fibre, the situation nearly reversed in 2007 creating a trade surplus of US $202 million and the trend is still going steady.
Entrepreneurs need to realize that along with the accelerating process of economic integration, international trade also requires to be given a due weightage.
There is fierce competition among countries to tap the limited global market and it is needless to say that development prospects of any nation or region would increasingly depend on international competitiveness of the products.
