ISM honors Persons of the Year

Leadership Person of the Year — Christine Couts, NAPM—Columbus Inc.
The Leadership Person of the Year is a member who has been a visionary for the advancement of ISM, the profession and/or the public at large. This individual shows willingness to manage change in work priorities, procedures and organization. Christine Couts is honored for fostering global thinking, promoting a team approach and aligning organizational goals to ISM. Couts embraces the “together everyone achieves more” philosophy.

She networks for the benefit of NAPM—Columbus, Inc. and encourages people to get people to get involved in specific tasks to help develop them as future leaders. In addition, Couts worked on her affiliate's 2006 and 2007 three-year strategic plan and is working on steps for the 2008 plan.

Marketing/Communicating Person of the Year — Robert A. Barwick, A.P.P., ISM—Milwaukee Inc.
The Marketing/Communicating Person of the Year is a member who has made the most effective use of marketing and communication tools for the advancement of ISM and the profession. This individual shows a superior ability and willingness to work positively and effectively both up and down the line and with peers and the public. Robert A. Barwick, A.P.P., is honored for his dedication of time and resources to his affiliate and the profession.

He was the artistic and editorial spearhead for ISM—Milwaukee Inc's new and improved Web site, which heightens the affiliate's image and service through clean design and accessible content. Barwick has used Supply Management Month as a springboard for more opportunities to share the goals of ISM—Milwaukee, Inc. and the supply management profession with employers, students and prospective members.

Volunteer Person of the Year — David G. Duprey, NAPM—Greater Syracuse Inc.
The Volunteer Person of the Year is a member who most exemplifies the spirit of ISM and the supply management profession in their contributions. David G. Duprey is honored for his leadership while serving as affiliate treasurer. He has managed the financials for NAPM—Greater Syracuse Inc and was a catalyst in bringing the affiliate to a point where it allowed acceptance of credit cards for dues and ticket sales to the affiliate's annual clambake. He also was instrumental in moving the affiliate's printed and mailed newsletter to a Web site and electronic newsletter, allowing the affiliate to save money as well as get information to members in a more timely fashion.
