Mitsui Chemicals, Japan will shut down its 553,000 tons per year naphtha cracker unit located at Chiba in end-October.
A company official confirmed to fibre2fashion by saying that “it is true Chiba naphtha cracker plant is going to shut down for 10 days from 20 October, 2008.”
He added by saying that “it was a planned maintenance shut-down”
The company in order to keep the supply lines moving is planning to increase operating rate of its 455,000 tons per annum, Osaka unit. The plant which has been running at 80 percent capacity will now produce at its full operating rate.
