6TH China International Polyamide & Intermediates Forum will be held on 4-5 December 2008 at Shanghai, China.
Various areas of the Polyamide industry are showing contrasting fortunes in uncertain economic times. Nylon carpeting in the USA is suffering during the current construction industry downturn, but nylon packaging film is expanding rapidly in Asia.
Nylon textile filament production is being cut back almost everywhere, but investment in new plants is still taking place in China.
PA6 polymer producers are grappling with margins squeezed to the bone, but new polymerisations plants are still being built in China.
Tyre cord manufacturers are enjoying healthy margins, better than for many years except in China, where overcapacity is keeping prices and profits low.
Caprolactam supply is tight, production costs are increasing, but producers struggle to get acceptance of price rises by customers.
New caprolactam capacity will be needed soon, but so far there is much talk but little action. There is immense potential for PA66 in China, but a proposed adiponitrile plant is surrounded by controversy.
With these contrasting outlooks, the polyamide business is beset with many questions. Come to find the answers at the 6th Polyamide & Intermediates Forum (well, at least some of the answers).
• Supply/demand status and prospect for the global caprolactam and adipic acid markets
• Influence from macro-control, new regulations and the RMB exchange rate on the nylon market
• Review and prospects for the nylon polymer chip market
• Supply/demand status and prospects for polyamide fibres in China
• Review and perspective on the fast growing PA66 use in China
