Technical textile sector set its sights high

Taiwan Textile Institute and the textile industry have been working together to actively promote the development of Taiwan's industrial textiles, with the support of Industrial Bureau of Economic Ministry and Technology Department.
The output value of the industry was 50 billion NT Yuan, five years ago, but it gradually increased to over 100 billion NT Yuan in 1996. Recently the Textile Industry Association gave a special achievement award to Taiwan Textile Institute.
The Taiwanese Government has set a development plan for technical textiles to reach 180 billion NT Yuan by 2015. Looking from global trend of development, industrial textiles require a long-term growth perspective.
Under the direction of the Government, Taiwan Textile Institute will help a textile delegation from China visit Taiwan in July. Taiwan Textile industry is expected to open up 16 items to the textile industry from China.
Eight items from the clothing and apparel goods industry is expected to be opened up making it a total of 24 items, according to the draft of Taiwan's business items to be opened to investment by people from China.
