Overseas companies evince interest in investing in textile sector

Vladimir Astrovsky, the Vice-Chairman of the Bellegprom Concern, on the occasion of the 'Day of Workers' of the light industry said that many overseas companies are showing interest in the Belarusian light industry.

He said, “Overseas companies from Turkey, Italy and Germany and other countreis have evinced keen interest in investing in light industries like textiles and garments in cooperation with domestic companies".

He added by saying that it was still too early to comment on the amount of investment these companies have committed, since they are careful considering that the world was going through a bad recessionary phase.

He added that the Bellegprom Concern had already gained experience in setting up joint ventures with foreign companies since they have already cooperated in footwear manufacturing industry.

Bellegprom Concern is an association for companies in the light industry and has a total membership of 119 companies mainly from the textile, apparel, leather goods and footwear industry.
