Indian Retail School announces two new programmes

Keeping pace with the changing trends in the retail industry, Indian Retail School (IRS), country's premier retail institution, has introduced two part-time programmes – Retail Store Operations Management (PG & UG) and Retail Buying and Merchandising Management (PG & UG).

The objective of this three month certificate course is to impart basic knowledge and understanding of the retail market helping students to develop the required retail competencies for a head start in their Retail Career. The course will also teach students on how to effectively manage store operations as a profit centre. The 1st batch starts from 20th of July 2009, eligibility criterion being graduate from any stream or 12th Pass with prior work experience.

The courses are meant for students who are looking to pursue a career in retail as well as professionals aspiring to sharpen their skill sets for better prospects in the industry. These courses will also help students to hone skills in Retail commercials, merchandise knowledge, store location, design & visual merchandising, information technology in Retail, managing operations, retail selling skills & customer service. This will be complemented with projects & case studies with assessment and evaluation.

Students will be rewarded a certificate in Retail Store Operations and Retail Buying & Merchandising Management. Classes will be held 5 days a week for two hours each. Admission is strictly based on Merit, which will be judged from a student's performance in the written examination and interview. The batch will have 30 seats in its inception.
