Indev releases Smart Frame measurement technology

Indev Precision Measurement Gauging's new Smart Frame, offers the latest technology in continuous web measurement at a lower entry price compared to their existing web measurement product line. Smart Frame offers built-in controls, and uses Indev's multi-sensor head which has "Plug and Play" sensor technology supporting simultaneous on-line measurement for up to five sensor types to match the needs of the paper and the emerging solar film markets.

Smart Frame offers the same 10 inch welded beam construction and precision guide rails as Indev's existing O frame, at a lower cost, due to its streamlined manufacturing, assembly time, and standardized controls and software platform. "We wanted to ensure that the next generation Indev product line offers the same simplicity and precision provided by our current frames, including ease of support and maintenance," stated Dan Hanrahan, President of Indev. "Our objective was to deliver a universal industrial web gauging product line that could be more easily supported by in-house technical staff. No compromise was made to the ruggedness and precision of the system," he added.

A major advantage of the SmartFrame is its broad application, allowing the system to be used in film, paper, plastics, woven fiber, steel, steel coatings, and the emerging solar film measurement markets. The multi-sensor carrier can be equipped with a beta sensor for thickness, or for basis weight measurement. Additionally, it can be equipped with any of the other Indev measurement sensors such as Microwave, X-Ray, X-Ray or Beta Backscatter, Color, Spectral Reflectance, Caliper, and Porosity Sensors to meet a wide range of web measurement across multiple industries.

The software platform used to perform the sensor data acquisition for Smart Frame is Indev's proven GaugeView platform, installed on hundreds of new and retrofit web gauge applications. GaugeView provides a comprehensive toolset of pre-developed application templates to provide user display screens, quality control, and reporting data. The control software provides user configurable web profiles, cross directional displays, and historical displays that can be easily configured to each industry application.
