Australian wool market finishes 3.6% higher

Buyers for China dominated in all centres, including Newcastle, followed by those buying for India and for Europe. Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 49,500 bales are currently rostered for sale.Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 16 and 17) are 44,712 and 49,500 bales, respectively; a decrease of 13.2% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 3,000 bales in Melbourne next week and 3,300 bales in Week 17. In South African sales, where 7,360 bales were on offer, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 2.7% since last week against a 0.4% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.3% appreciation against the Euro.
