In 2010, Sandler AG will be building a new plant at the company premises in Schwarzenbach/Saale. Extensive excavation works which are the prerequisite for this project are scheduled to begin this year. Among others, they entail the construction of a new parking area for automobiles and trucks. A new access road and a bridge across the creek Lamitz are also necessary in order to ensure the optimal handling of the increased transport volume as well as intra-company logistics.

The former so called central warehouse for voluminous nonwovens has to be removed for the new plant. The facility will be a two-storey building with an area of 10,500 m² per floor. All in all, the 150m long, 70m wide and 20m high hall will correspond to the size of four soccer fields.

Due to the topographically difficult location, the excavation alone will amount to about 80,000 cubic metres of soil which roughly equals to 6,600 truckloads of 30 tons each.

This future-oriented million Euro investment is a pre-condition for continuing to supply existing and new markets with innovative products. Furthermore, it will additionally be increasing the flexibility at the location, thereby establishing Schwarzenbach as one of the largest production sites for nonwovens worldwide. Moreover, this project will automatically result in additional workplaces.
