Polyester fibre output to face pressure

At present, the world economy is still facing serious conditions and in China, although the Chinese government has announced a plethora of economic stimulus plans, it is still difficult to turn things around.

But even in this situation, global production of polyester fibers has still increased by about 2-4 percent in the current year, when compared with the same period last year.

The latest report by PCI Consulting Group reveals that, up till now, China's polyester fiber production has increased by more than one percent year on year, while at the same time, downstream demand has grown by a little less than one percentage point.

Although polyester fiber producers in North America do not face the plight of factory closures, the supply chain has to bear huge pressure, while in the case of Europe and Japan, producers cut operating rates in sync with slowdown in demand.

According to survey results conducted by Chinese Entrepreneurs Survey System of 2009 questionnaire among Chinese enterprise managers, there are relatively serious overcapacities in China's textile, papermaking, chemical fiber, non-metallic and steel industries.
