Federation of handicrafts Association of Nepal (FHAN) plans to set up a handicraft showroom at Thamel for Small and Micro Entrepreneurs (SMEs) from 14 districts, after having launched the virtual market for handicrafts on December 13.

This showroom would offer opportunities to SMEs to have direct communication with buyers and to promote business widely. A period of 30 days will be provided to the SMEs on rotation basis and will have space to accommodate around 25-50 entrepreneurs at economy rates, informed FHAN President Mr. Bikas Ratna Dhakwa.

The handicraft sector of Nepal needs product promotion and training programs for improvement as they are in great demand in international market due to their ethnicity and unique designs, he added.

The virtual market launched by the association is an online one-stop market place with variety of handmade products and services of more than 1000 members of FHAN from across Nepal. Through this official website, www.nepalhandicraftmarket.com, handicraft traders of the country can provide online details about their products to international buyers and entrepreneurs.

This virtual market offers the facilities to order or buy products as well as inquire, negotiate or communicate with members directly. There are around 30 handicraft companies registered in the website, wherein FHAN intends to introduce additional 10,000 products.
