According to data released from General Administration of Customs on January 10, China's total textile and apparel exports registered US $167.02 billion from January to December 2009, down 9.8 percent year on year.
The negative growth rate of 9.8 percent registered for the full year of 2009, fell by a further 1.35 percent from the 11.15 percent negative growth rate recorded in the first 11 months of the year by the industry as a whole.
Among them, total textile exports reached $59.97 billion, a negative growth of 8.4 percent year on year, while apparel exports fetched $107.05 billion again a negative growth of 11 percent year on year.
In December, total textile and apparel exports stood at $16.78 billion, an increase of 20.26 percent over the previous month and it also rose by $720 million, up 4.48 percent, when compared with the same month of 2008.
Textiles continued to show an upward trend in December, since the growth turned positive in November. December exports of textiles scored $6.216 billion, up 25.10 percent year on year; while that of apparels marked $10.571 billion, down 4.75 percent year on year.
