In a bid to give a boost to the handloom and handicraft products, the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India (CCIC) intends to open a showroom at Commonwealth Games Village in New Delhi, informed Mr. M A Ibrahimi, Managing Director, CCIC.
The official was speaking on the sidelines of an exhibition organized by the corporation, which runs many emporia displaying handicrafts and handloom products.
CCIC would produce handicraft and handloom items as well as fabrics and ready-to-wear garments on the theme of Commonwealth games. Moreover, it will plan marketing strategies for product promotion.
The association has emporiums in five big cities of the country, such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore; and franchisee showrooms in Gurgaon and Patna.
Also, it has expansion plans in foreign countries along with India. It already has a franchisee outlet in Denmark and more are planned in US, Europe and Middle East. It is also planning to set up two showrooms in Mumbai in coming days, informed the MD.
