Ahead of the celebrations of the National Flag Day of Turkmenistan, a new cotton mill was inaugurated in the administrative hub of Dashoguz region.

The plant valued at US $66.5 million has been put up in the south-western part of Dashoguz on the bank of Shavat canal. It is projected that the newly established plant will annually produce 14,500 tons of fine quality cotton yarn in various colours. The value of the annual production of the unit would be around US $24.7 million.

The mill inclusive of the industrial and office buildings and two staff cottages is spread over an area of 10 hectares. The construction site was revamped, considering the terrain and climatic conditions of the northern region.

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov remained present at the ceremony and while delivering the inaugural speech stated that, at present, over 70 percent of textile industry output is exported to countries like USA, Canada, Russia, Europe, China and Turkey.

The President pointed out that more than $1.3 billion have been spent for the development and inclusive modernization of the textile industry, since independence and the figure is likely to touch $2 billion by 2020. He also added that, cotton mills will be constructed in all the regions where cotton is cultivated.
