Fashion designer Josh Goot is intending to spearhead the move back to wool for the fashion industry and consumers both here and overseas.
Mr Goot has shown off some of his new designs to woolgrowers at the Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI) information forum in Adelaide, and spoken of his enthusiasm for Australian Merino wool.
He states the he has always wanted to incorporate woollen jersey into his designs, because it has a rich, lush texture that works in well with his signature look. The Australian Merino wool knits he has sourced through AWI has the natural stretch, drape, durability and versatility that he require, and he enjoys working with 100 per cent wool as it is a natural fibre that breaths and is soft to touch.
He is keen to add more wool to my collection before he takes it overseas next year, to show off the benefits to other designers.
AWI and Mr Goot have announced a partnership as part of AWI's push to increase demand for Australian Merino wool by building alliances with designers, manufacturers and retailers around the world, introducing them to the latest Australian Merino wool fabric innovations.
Josh Goot is one of Australia's most innovative designers, who burst onto the fashion scene in 2004 and is known for his modern styling of easy care fabrics for both menswear and womenswear markets. He was awarded the Tiffany & Co Young Designer of the Year for his debut collection in 2004 and is only one of two Australian designers to have featured on the cover of US apparel industry 'bible' Women's Wear Daily.
