Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries, while emphasising on the need to broaden the horizons of the nation's international business, said that, Africa and Latin America were under consideration by India as potential markets for overseas sales.
He recently made a statement that, according to him, it was essential to branch out country's overseas business, so as to increase the overseas sales.
The minister stressed on the immediate need of entering the African and Latin American markets so as to increase exports. He also stated that, keeping in the mind the new export avenues, new policies were being formulated.
While the country's exports for previous fiscal were approximately US $170 billion, for the current fiscal, Scindia claimed that, the export target was fixed at $200 billion. He further added that though, he is hopeful of achieving this new target figure, but the same would not happen if the engineering, handicraft, leather, and handloom sectors were not strengthened.
