Hohenstein hosts UV Performance Testing Webinar

Hohenstein Institute America will present a free online seminar on UV protection testing and certification for textiles on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 12:00 noon EST. The webinar, entitled Sunlight: Important but a Risk, will focus on the methods to evaluate UV protection and share certification best practices for apparel, outdoor, and home textile applications.

Textiles that provide UV protection are growing in popularity in apparel—especially children's and workwear—as well as for awnings and window coverings. Promoting UV protective benefits is a competitive advantage in these markets and third-party, independent performance certification reassures consumers that the advertised benefits have been validated.

Hohenstein is as member of the International Test Association for Applied UV Protection. Hohenstein offers a broad range of UV protection testing methodologies including UV Standard 801 for apparel and regional methodologies for outdoor and home textiles such as the Australian-New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 4399:1996), the European standard EN 13758-1, and the American standard AATCC 183. Certifications that textiles meet test criteria are available.
