An argument between American retailers and the Australian wool industry over mulesing issue is set to be resolved.
Negotiations between the US National Retailers Federation's and wool growers, wool industry, animal welfare groups and the government are in progress. The federation is currently in Australia for talks.
If no substantial step would be taken in this direction, the federation avers that, activists from animal rights groups such as the Ethical Treatment of Animals will protest outside shops, which is the main issue of concern among international retailers.
14 clothing companies have recently sent a letter to the Federal Government requesting it to assist the industry to overcome the practice of mulesing.
According to an official of the federation, the wool sector is stepping forward in the right direction, about which the retailers and brands in the US and Europe should be informed, he added.
