Orissa to get handicraft museum

Anjali Behera, Minister for Textiles and Handicrafts, while addressing a press conference informed that, the Ministry intends to establish a handloom and handicraft museum on the fringes of Orissa's Capital, Bhubaneswar in Jayadev Batika near Khandagiri district.

She stated that, a plot measuring four acres has already been identified for setting up the museum and Rs 60 million has been set aside for the same.

The museum is divided into two parts, wherein 10,000 square feet of the area will be utilised for handloom sector, while 7,000 square feet of area will be used for handicrafts sector.

The process of inviting bids for setting up the museum has already been initialized, Behera said. She also informed that, quite a few unique handicrafts along with designs of archaic handloom garments would be on display at the Museum.
