'Sataranji', is a centuries old traditional way of producing handmade colourful carpets still being practiced in Nishbetganj, Rangpur district of Bangladesh.

In order to develop and promote the craft, the government is now undertaking a project to set up a 'sataranji village'.

The government will invest around Taka 10 million to set up the village, which will include 116 weaver families from Nishbetganj.

These weavers, who work in the unorganized sector, have been producing colourful wall-mats, floor-mats, bedcovers and many other items.
