According to a market research firm, Fuji Keizai, the Japanese thermal fibre market is expected to grow at a fast rate and is expected to rise by 13.1 percent year on year in 2010.
The value potential is expected to touch 13.8 billion yen by the end of the current year. This growth has been attributed to an innerwear brand of casual wear retailer, Uniqlo.
On the other hand, the bigger market of high-performance fibres mainly used in clothing is expected to grow a bit slower at 1.4 percent and will touch 115.7 billion yen.
Fibres with quick drying qualities used in sportswear and innerwear are projected to increase by 4.1 percent and achieve sales of 17.8 billion yen.
In the industrial category, carbon fibres are projected to grow by 12.3 percent in 2010, after having plunged by 25.7 percent in 2009, due to the global economic slump.
