The art of weaving carpets and kilims has been considered the cultural treasure that has been inherited through centuries. These carpets have become the symbols of the feelings of Anatolian people.
These carpets are unique works of art that tell the story of happiness, grief, longings or dreams of thousands of women. The mosque, a church and a synagogue depicted together on the carpet signify unconditional tolerance and friendliness here. The carpets seem to reflect the social life of the people.
The Uçan Hali Carpet and Kilim Gallery Co. Ltd., in business since 1979, is organizing a three day exhibition, (starting from 24th Nov.) displaying these spectacular carpets and kilims, some even dating back to the 18th and 19th century.
They also offer a selection of valuable and rare hand-woven carpets and kilims to enthusiasts. The exhibition includes works from many regions, as well as small souvenir-type carpets, perfect for the approaching Christmas holiday.
Yörük, Milas, Yagcibedir, Dösemealti, Nigde carpets are among those displayed at the show along with pieces from Iran.
The exhibition will be on display through Nov. 26 and can be viewed from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nenehatun Cad. No: 52, GOP.
