In the group clothing and footwear prices were up due to new lines in stores. Prices of articles of clothing and clothing accessories rose by 3.5 percent, of clothing materials by 2.9 percent and of garments by 1.3 percent. Prices of footwear were on average 0.9 percent higher.
The growth of prices in the group food and non-alcoholic beverages is the result of higher prices of fruit (by 6 percent) and vegetables (by 5.1 percent) and in the group miscellaneous goods and services prices of personal effects and personal services (by 2.8 percent and 1 percent respectively).
Higher prices of food pushed the inflation rate up by 0.2 percentage point, while higher prices of clothing and footwear added 0.1 percentage point.
Lower prices of petroleum products decreased the total growth
In November lower prices were registered in the groups transport (by 3.4 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other (by 1 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (by 0.4 percent), restaurants and hotels (by 0.2 percent) and recreation and culture (by 0.1 percent).
Annual growth of prices down – now at 2.1 percent
The strong decrease of prices in November pushed the annual inflation rate down to the August level, i.e. 2.1 percent. The 12-month average price growth decreased to 2.6 percent. In one year prices increased the most in these groups: education (by 7.5 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other (by 6.2 percent), furnishing, household equipment and maintenance (by 4.3 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and restaurants and hotels (by 4 percent) and recreation and culture (by 2.6 percent).
