China is to back a self-improvement drive aimed at improving the quality of country's exports. This drive has been initiated by six trade committees having over 40,000 export-oriented firms representing different industries, as its members.
Vice Commerce Minister Zhong Shan while speaking at the inaugural function of the East China Fair at the Shanghai New International Expo Center said that, in spite of the fact that China has grown to be the biggest exporter across the globe, the country's business is littered with several issues including those linked with quality and comparatively low profits.
The country needs to further work on betterment of quality of its exports, better attend the issues related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and set up marketing and distribution networks for improving value propositions of the goods, the Minister said.
The six trade committee's which include light industry, mining, textile, food, electrical equipments and medical machine sectors on March 1, 2011, resolved to work in collaboration with each other to improve the quality of the goods that their member companies export.
Products like silk items from Jiangsu Province's Suzhou region and bamboo garments from Zhejiang Province were amongst those which were being displayed at the fair.
With an annual rise of 31.3 percent in exports and 38.7 percent in imports, China's trade surplus declined by 6.4 percent in 2010.
