RIL's Dahej petrochemical expansion bags green nod

1 min read

Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has bagged the environment clearance for its expansion and debottlenecking programme at its Dahej petrochemical facility in Gujarat, for which the company is investing Rs 13,250 crore. However, the environmental clearance to the proposed project at the Dahej facility is subject to a few conditions.

RIL has set aside Rs 400 crore for environment protection and conservation and the feedstock for the plan will mainly be ethane, lean gas and off gas.

The Dahej facility currently uses a combination of ethane and propane to produce downstream products and by-products.

However, RIL has proposed to modify its feedstock ratio of ethane and propane in the gas cracker plant, primarily due to availability of imported shale gas from the US, which will also result in higher production of ethylene. (AR)
