The Global Sourcing Expo, Australia’s premier sourcing event that ‘connects the world’ has announced that Carol Hanlon, CEO of TCF Australia and BEC National, will be hosting two free workshops at the expo’s first ever show in Sydney next month.

The workshops aim to provide valuable insights and guidance to small businesses operating in the fashion, textile, clothing, footwear, leather, accessories, creative, and related gift and homewares industries.

The workshops will take place at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on July 12 and 13, 2023. The topics of workshops are Introduction to Exporting & Importing and Export and Import for small business.

Introduction to Exporting & Importing will be held on Wednesday, July 12, from 9.30-11 am. It will elaborate on the basic steps to lower one’s business risks and cover topics such as Research, Contracts, Costings, Incoterms, IP and Export Market Development Grants (EMDG).

The workshop on Export & Import Guide for Small Business will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 9.30-11 am. It will explain how one should develop their success plan for global trading and cover topics like Logistics, Finances, Forex, EFA Loans, Risks and EMDG.

Australian business owners and managers in these industries can benefit from the extensive range of free support offered by TCF Australia Export and BEC National Export Training & Mentoring Projects.

“The support includes one-on-one mentoring, helpline support, online webinars, and forums to prepare for exporting. Additionally, participants can gain knowledge on how best to prepare an application for the Austrade EMDG programme,” explained Hanlon.

Approved applicants of the EMDG Programme can access up to $700,000 over eight years to assist with various aspects of global marketing and expansion.

Global Sourcing Expos Sydney and Melbourne provide a dedicated show platform to connect global manufacturers, producers, service providers and fashion labels with trade buyers, retailers and industry professionals from Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

The Sydney Show will take place from July 11-13, 2023, at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney. On the other hand, the Melbourne Show is scheduled for November 21 to 23 and will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
