Turkiye's industrial output dips 1.2% YoY in Apr 2023

Turkiye’s industrial production index for April 2023 revealed a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 1.2 per cent. The non-durable consumer goods sector, including textiles, saw negative change rates. The annual change for this sector stood at -1.8 per cent, with a change of -1.5 per cent month-on-month (MoM).

On closer inspection of industry subsectors, the manufacturing index remained steady, while the gas supply index—along with other sectors—fell by 4.3 per cent when compared to April 2022, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

On an MoM basis, the country’s industrial production saw a decrease of 0.9 per cent. Specifically, the manufacturing index dropped by 1.0 per cent, whereas the gas supply index, along with other sectors, saw a marginal increase of 0.5 per cent compared to the previous month.
