Internationalisation and diversification are two pillars on which Bsamply, a US-based start-up born in 2017 that bets on the digitalisation of the world of textiles, leather and accessories, has announced that the company aims to broaden its horizons. In the last year, company stated that there was a quarterly growth of about 30 per cent on the buyer side.

To these is added sustainability, a compass that has guided Bsamply since its inception and has allowed it to consolidate its presence in the world of fashion. So far the company counts, 6,000 brands from Europe, Asia and the US and over 100 registered suppliers, of which 70 per cent Italian and 30 per cent international, registered on its platform. Further, Bsamply has already created a section for leathers, packaging and accessories such as buttons, ribbons and zippers, while in June 2021 an area entirely dedicated to interior design will see the light, as company stated in a press release.

In the exploration of this new sector, the company has an advantage, as it already has some important suppliers among its ranks such as Redaelli Velluti and Clerici Tessuto.

“We have several projects in the pipeline for this year, first of all a section completely dedicated to sustainable materials, so that the fashion houses involved are facilitated in the process and can find what they need faster,” Andrea Fiume, CEO of Bsamply, said in the release.

“An intuition to improve the buyer user experience, but also a need born from the entry into our customer portfolio of prestigious Italian and international brands, which like us believe in the importance of the circular economy and act concretely to make the fashion industry, that is responsible for 10 per cent of global annual emissions, greener. In addition, from mid-April we will also launch the Bsamply app from which buyer and supplier will be able to view products, take samples and exchange messages in real time, while a complete update of the platform is planned for June, which will bring with it new features,” company said.

“As for new foreign customers, Pyratex, a Madrid-based company that replaces synthetic fabrics with more natural materials that the planet has to offer, deserves a mention. Always remaining in Europe, other interesting realities are Ictyos, a French ecological tannery that obtains unique garments from fish skin from the food industry waste, and We aRe SpinDye, a Swedish company that has developed a more sustainable colouring method than to the traditional dyeing process capable of reducing the use of water in the production chain by 75 per cent and the carbon footprint by 30 per cent,” company said in the release.

“Objective also pursued by the Japanese group Itochu with the Livinax brand which through the Renu project promotes the recycling and processing of production leftovers to give life to new textile fibres, saving up to 32.5 million litres of water and reducing emissions of CO2 of 18,000 tons. And then there are the Turkish Zeynar Tekstil who deals with prints and dyes with a certified sustainable approach, the Indian Herbal Fab which supports the "Who Made My Clothes?" in favour of a more ethical fashion industry and the Australian fibre for good which produces clothing for babies using natural colour cotton,” company said.

Among the local suppliers, on the other hand, Bsamply has names such as Marzotto, the first Italian textile industrial group, Olimpias, a pioneering group in the European textile panorama that employs over 1,500 people, and Limonta, an important company with more than a century of history and active since the early nineties in reducing the environmental impact.
