Organised jointly by the European Commission's Sectoral e-Business Watch (SeBW) and IDC, the multinational market research company. The workshop will take place as the afternoon session of IDC's conference on Supply Chain Management to be held in Milan, Italy, October 23.

IDC research managers will present the preliminary findings of the study carried out on behalf of SeBW on the state-of-play in RFID adoption and its benefits/problems for firms.

The workshop will be introduced by Hasan Alkas, DG Enterprise, and co-chaired by Gabriella Cattaneo, IDC EMEA, Director Competitiveness and Innovation Expertise Centre and Ivano Ortis, Program Manager, IDC Manufacturing Insights, author of the e-Business Watch study on RFID. The study is based on a decision-maker survey about this topic among 420 medium-sized and large companies and a range of case studies from different EU countries.

The session will include an analysis of RFID best practices by Simon Ellis, Vice-President of IDC Manufacturing Insights, previously Supply Chain Strategy Director/Futurist for Unilever North America, and a European case study presentation.

The session will be closed by a panel discussion on the drivers-barriers of RFID adoption with the experts of SeBW Advisory Board and the speakers. Discussion with the participants will be encouraged.

The workshop participants are welcome to assist to the morning session of the IDC Conference which includes other opinionleaders' presentations and case studies of supply chain innovative technologies implementations. The morning session is in Italian but English translation will be provided.
