Textiles & machinery wholesale prices up in February

Ministry of Commerce & Industry released the Review for the week ended 25th February 2006.
The official Wholesale Price Index for 'All Commodities' (Base: 1993-94 = 100) for the week ended 25th February 2006 declined by 0.1 percent to 197.0 (Provisional) from 197.1 (Provisional) for the previous week.
The annual rate of inflation, calculated on point to point basis, stood at 4.29 percent (Provisional) for the week ended 25/02/2006 (over 26/02/2005) as against 4.34 percent (Provisional) for the previous week and 5.06 percent during the corresponding week of the previous year.
The index for 'Textiles' group rose by 0.5 percent to 130.5 (Provisional) from 129.9 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of cotton yarn-'hanks (2 percent) and other cotton yarn and cotton yarn-cones (1 percent each). However, the prices of polyster yarn (2 percent) and hessian cloth (1 percent) declined.
The index for 'Chemicals & Chemical Products' group rose by 0.1 percent to 189.2 (Provisional) from 189.1 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of fireworks (10 percent) and synthetic resins (7 percent) .However, the prices of bopp film (1 percent) declined.
The index for 'Machinery & Machine Tools' group rose by 0.2 percent to 147.1 (Provisional) from 146.8 (Provisional) for the previous week due to higher prices of electric motors:phase one (9 percent), electric motors (6 percent) and electric motors:phase three (3 percent). However, the prices of acsr conductors (10 percent) declined.
