German Federal Statistical Office released the exports results for February 2006.
According to provisional data, Country exported commodities to the value of EUR 70.3 billion and imported commodities to the value of EUR 57.2 billion in February 2006.
German exports of February 2006 thus were 17.7 percent and imports 24.0 percent above the respective February 2005 levels. Upon calendar and seasonal adjustment, exports increased 4.6 percent and imports 4.8 percent from January 2006.
The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 13.1 billion in February 2006. In February 2005, the foreign trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 13.6 billion. Upon calendar and seasonal adjustment, the foreign trade balance showed a surplus of EUR 12.5 billion in February 2006.
According to provisional results of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the current account of the balance of payments showed a surplus of EUR 11.0 billion in February 2006, which included the balances of supplementary trade items (EUR –1.2 billion), services (EUR –1.1 billion), factor income (net) (EUR +1.6 billion) and current transfers (EUR –1.4 billion). In February 2005, the German current account showed a surplus of EUR 9.4 billion.
In February 2006, Germany dispatched commodities to the value of EUR 44.3 billion to the Member States of the European Union, while it received commodities to the value of EUR 35.1 billion from those countries.
Compared with February 2005, dispatches to and arrivals from the EU countries increased by 13.7 percent and 14.7 percent, respectively.
