As reported by the Federal Statistical Office, the index of selling prices in wholesale trade increased 5.0 percent in May 2006 from the corresponding month of the preceding year.
This is the highest year-on-year rate of price increase since November 2000 (+5.5 percent).
In April and in March 2006, the annual rate of change was +3.2 percent and +2.5 percent, respectively. From April to May the index rose by 0.7 percent.
