A trend setter in the making, small Indian brands can go overseas through 'Worldstreet' marketed by Global Network, an Ahmedabad based consultancy.

Global Network aims to rope in small Indian companies to retail their products directly through Worldstreet, a part of the 2,400 acre resort near Washington DC — Celebrate Virginia.

The company has been carrying out a series of road shows in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and has even signed a writing product company, a ceramic company and several handicrafts firms.

Retailers are provided with the opportunity to directly contact the consumers resulting in higher profit margins as the middlemen are eliminated, further enabling the companies to judge the consumers preferences better and fulfill their requirements.

Worldstreet will begin its operation from November next year, and will function both as a business-to-consumer (B2C) as well as a business-to-business B2B set up permitting retailers to avail the option of American wholesalers too.

Amongst textile companies interested in it are the Khadi and Village Industries Commission and a number of smaller garment manufacturers.

The Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) has also sought spot at the retail centre.

Retailers will be provided full advertising and marketing support from the promoters, including advertising through a dedicated satellite channel.

Thus, small Indian companies are likely to retail their products through American shelves.
